Amhari disclosed that he was sent to China (along with Jho Low) on a “secret mission” in 2016 by Najib to convince the country to help pay 1MDB’s debts, in return for which Beijing’s state-owned enterprises would be awarded several infrastructure projects.
This follows a decision by a three-member Federal Court bench led by Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Datuk Seri David Wong Dak Wah to deny permission for the government's appeal to be heard on its full merits.
This is the third successful forfeiture made by the MACC.
The businessman had personal access to the former prime minister, and would often contact his wife Rosmah.
Mohd Isa, who was also formerly a long-time Negeri Sembilan menteri besar, had claimed trial to one criminal breach of trust charge and nine counts of receiving a RM3.09 million bribe that is linked to Felda's purchase of the Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites in Kuching, by Felda Investment Corp Sdn Bhd (FIC Sdn Bhd).
"The non-compliance (by the prosecution) does not justify the striking out of the notice. I direct that the notice be amended if (the prosecution) so wishes within seven days of today.
"The application by Umno Pekan to strike out (the notice of forfeiture) is dismissed," said Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali in his brief oral decision.
This came after two separate High Courts today were informed that Hasan and Akademi Pemuda are not contesting the order.
Presiding judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan ordered the prosecution to quickly prepare and give the documents to the defence.
The three witnesses are former Kota Melaka MP Datuk Wong Nai Chee, who was Najib's adviser in Chinese affairs, Batu Kawan Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Noor Ahmad and Companies Commission of Malaysia officer Rafidah Yahya.
